To the point: Chai is bae! Nukkad chai is closer to heart, and there’s definitely nothing better in this world than a freshly brewed cuppa tea. Agreed? Since we are such tea-buffs and keep a track of tea-news, we found one upon hearing that our jaws are crawling on the floor.
Indian tea specialty company Teabox has launched this special blend, under their Private Reserve collection and it costs a whopping Rs 2 lakhs per kg (USD 2890 per kg) when imported. *huhhhh??*A 10 gm pack on their website costs Rs 2,000.
Do you know what’s so special about this one? Well, it is made exclusively from only the tender two leaves and buds. The leaves were plucked on March 14, at Badamtan Tea Estate (Darjeeling) during the first flush of the season (out of four in a year). That’s another reason for it being expensive.
Once brewed it has sweet floral fragrance and a light, smooth body. It has lively fruity flavours, which once steeped for second time make it even more fruity. And you can steep it four times.
WOW! Now, I would give anything to taste this one. But my bank balance doesn’t agree with me. Plus, logical part of my brain (the frugal one) is thinking of all the things I can get in that amount. But what about you? Would you care for a cup?
