The Telangana State Government has mega plans to expand agriculture and food processing industries in the state. In this regard, a delegation led by Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy recently visited a peanut butter processing unit at Oran in Sabarkantha district of Gujarat, it was learnt.
The minister stated that Telangana is known for quality and aflatoxin-free groundnut production, which has a huge demand in international markets. He also explained that establishment of food processing industries would add value to farm fresh produce as well as increase income of farmers.
The minister also visited the IFFCO plant at Kalol in Gandhinagar district, and felicitated scientist Ramesh Ralia, who developed liquid nano urea with the help of biotechnology. He appealed to the management of IFFCO to establish a nano urea plant in South Telangana.
The appeal for the plant is due to the Jammu-Kanyakumari and Mumbai-Vijayawada highways passing through the State of Telangana making transportation of the products easily available for consumers in Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh.
