Olympic gold medalist’s mother promises to make son’s favorite dish
Tokyo Olympics:
Neeraj Chopra’s mother is ready to welcome India’s Olympic gold medalist with his favorite dish when he lands in Panipat from Tokyo. Speaking to India Today, she said she was confident that her son would win the Javelin gold medal at Tokyo 2021.
Neeraj Chopra’s mother Saroj on Saturday said she is waiting for her son, the Olympic Gold medalist, to return home from Tokyo so that she can feed him his favorite dish – Churma – a sweet delicacy of North India.
The entire country is rejoicing Neeraj Chopra’s historic Gold medal and Saroj Devi said she was quite confident even before her son left for Tokyo that he would finish on the top step of the podium.
Neeraj fulfilled his mother’s dream in style, blasting the rest of the field in the 12-man Javelin final on Saturday.. Neeraj threw 87.03m in his first attempt on Saturday and let out a loud cry, knowing he has done enough to beat most of the remaining field.
As Germany’s World No. 1 Johannes Vetter had an off day, crashing out without even managing to make it to the top 8, Neeraj knew he was going to finish inside the medal position. However, he went on to better his throw, finishing with a best throw of 87.58m which no athlete in the final was able to breach or even get close to.
